INTERIOR DESIGN FAQs
ANSWERS TO YOUR DESIGN QUESTIONS
-
We should be engaged as early as possible in a design project. If an architect is engaged, ideally we should be engaged at the same time. This ensures everyone works together from the outset and the design intent of the client, architect and interior designer are aligned. It gives rise to a coherent design and avoids costly changes later in the design process or build.
-
There are numerous methods interior designers can use to charge for their services. The method we adopt depends on the type of project. It ranges from fixed to hourly rates and is set out in detail in the Engagement Agreement we enter with you before the project commences.
-
Yes, we can work with your existing furniture and decor to create a cohesive and harmonious design. We can also suggest new pieces to add to your collection or suggest reupholstery/refurbishment of existing pieces to enhance the overall design aesthetic.
-
Yes, we provide 3D renderings to help clients visualise the design concept. This allows for changes and adjustments to be made before the design is finalised and implemented.
-
The length of our design process depends on the type of project and the extent of our involvement. A typical project would take around 4 months, less for a small project. Where a project is run in tandem with an architectural project, the latter will generally dictate the time taken for the interior design and can even run for one, two or more years from initial consultation to build completion. If furniture procurement is involved, the length of the project will depend on the lead time of the pieces to be procured.
-
Our process typically starts with an initial consultation where we get to know you and your design vision. From there, we create a design proposal outlining our services, scope of work and fees. Once the proposal is accepted and an Engagement Agreement signed, we begin the design process. This process can include concept creation, design development, documentation, sourcing and procuring materials and furnishings, and design administration as required for the specific project. We engage with and keep our clients informed throughout the process.
-
